Bill Maher calls America, a stupid country… and he’s right!

Bill Maher is right, America is a stupid country.  What else would you call a people that continue to refer to Mr. Maher as a comedian when there is twenty years worth of evidence to the contrary?  Yep, we’re dopes for continuing to call this guy a comedian when terms like ”angry”, “unfunny” or “liberal” are so much more relevant.  His commentary has gotten angrier and angrier over the years.  It’s a real shame.  His funny is retreating with his hairline.  Let’s not forget, this is the guy that thinks committing suicide and killing innocents takes guts.  People kill themselves every day Bill, the manner in which you do it is hardly relevant beyond the consideration of the deed.  No, but we’re the idiots.

In your parlance, Bill… “f you”.

From the music, to the action… it just looks so damn good.  It’s about time this beat up old franchise got the epic treatment.  I am loving what I am seeing, and if it all holds up for a 2 hour flick, JJ Abrams will be the savior of Trek.

Don’t take my word for it, click and watch!

See? I told you. The thing looks entertaining as all hell.

RIP Yankee Bobby Murcer

It’s been a pretty busy day, but I was really sorry to hear that Bobby Murcer died today.  He was a hell of a Yankee and I always thought he was a pretty underrated player on a team that was chock full of personalities (AKA egos).  For my part, in a situation where men were on base, gimme this guy over Reggie, Winfield or any of the other assholes of my childhood Yankee era.

Hopefully Bobby was greeted by Munson at the gates and the two of them are having a beer and talking ball.  Rest in Peace.

Got this in my email today, along with the caption, “Ask the American Indian what happens when you don’t control immigration.”  Maybe a little hysterical… but still, it’s clever and surely makes for a little food for thought.

Old bastard sues little kid over ski accident…

Let’s hope that this David Pfahler pulls a Sonny Bono at some point (sorry Sonny).  This guy should not be skiiing.  There is a risk involved in sending ones self hurtling down a mountainside.  There are all kinds of people out there.  This was a seven year old child.  I can tell you this, if this guy would have grabbed a kid of mine and cursed and threatened a suit, there would have been hell to pay.  Forget the lawsuit, start worrying about survivability.

VAIL — A 60-year-old man is taking an 8-year-old boy and his dad to court, claiming the third-grader caused a ski-slope collision that left the older man with a shoulder injury.

David J. Pfahler of Allentown, Pa., filed suit in Denver federal court claiming Scott Swimm, of Vail, then 7, was skiing fast and recklessly when they ran into each other in January. Pfahler’s suit says he suffered a torn shoulder tendon.

The boy told Pfahler he was sorry and started to ski away when the man grabbed Scott’s legs, cursed at him and said he would sue, Robb Swimm told The Aspen Times.

Dems just don’t get it… calls for inquiries into CIA interrogations proves it

This isn’t about right and wrong, and then at the same time it’s about nothing but right and wrong.  The CIA destroyed two tapes that documented the interrogations of two Al-Qaeda operatives.  Was illegal torture used in these interrogations?  I suppose now we’ll never really know.  The CIA claims that it destroyed the tapes because it wanted to protect the identity of some of its agents that were in attendance.  I suppose they’ve never heard of “blurring” and other effects that can be employed to do just that.  It’s such a lame excuse that it makes it painfully obvious that despite claims to the contrary, illegal methods of torture were likely utilized.  How do I know?  I suppose I can’t prove that they were but then the CIA can’t prove that they weren’t… now can they?

News of the destruction of these tapes has set the Democrats into motion.  They’re calling for investigations and all sorts of inquiries into what exactly went on at these interrogations and who knew about them.  Too bad the Dems can’t seem to see the forest for the trees.  While as a point of law and decency what went on at these interrogations might matter, the fact is that garden variety Americans could care less if some suspected Al-Qaeda thugs were tortured.  As a matter of fact, these wild pursuits for the truth are likely making a lot of middle America wonder if the Dems have the stomach to deal with the scum out there that wants us dead.

I agree completely that the Bush administration’s abduction and torture techniques are cause for concern.  I understand that this great nation built on the principles of law and order is looking more and more like the very thugs we want to defeat.  I get it.  Sadly, a lot of this country won’t get it.  They’ll see this as another means to settle a score with Bush that at the very same time appears to provide aid and comfort to the enemy.  Law and order Americans don’t give a damn about whether or not some Al-Qaeda operative was tortured or not.  Hell, I believe that a lot of people (perhaps even a majority) would wholly support the torture of “terrorists”.  As a matter of fact I think a lot of Americans take it for granted that WE ARE TORTURING these bastards.

So I wonder what the end game is for the Dems.  It seems another fool’s errand.  They won’t indict the administration and seek impeachment but they’ll take up an unpopular cause like defending supposed Al-Qaeda operatives.  It makes absolutely no sense.  While I can see that this is a breach of LAW, it’s not something that will be perceived as WRONG.  What will be perceived as wrong by a great many people is a witch hunt against people that are supposedly protecting us from terrorists.

Pelosi and Reid are imbeciles.  They’re lack of tact and political savvy is shocking.  The Democrats are their own worst enemy.  They are rudderless, clueless and ignorant where it concerns public sentiment.  I can’t believe I’m saying this, but the Republicans just might pull it out in 2008!

James Lipton was a pimp in Paris?

Talk about weird.  Who knew this guy was so worldly.  I’m not a big fan of ‘Inside the Actors Studio’ because I find it pretentious.  “What’s your favorite word?”  Who cares?  “What’s your least favorite word?”  Ditto.  No seriously, ditto is my least favorite word.  What a bore… but then when you consider that this Lipton is following up a previous career as a pimp… well it makes sense.  He manages to pimp actors as artists with every question.  I guess old habits die hard?!

Debra Opri sues Larry Birkhead for defamation?

Posted on September 25th, 2007 by Mark.
Categories: Just Dumb, Uncategorized.

Debra Opri just might be one of the biggest media whores to come down the road in a long time.  Think of a flashy, celebrity case in the last few years and I assure you, somewhere along the line she’s been involved or sought to be involved.  One of her recent clients was Larry Birkhead.  What better forum for a huckster attorney like Opri than a sensational circus like the custody battle for Anna Nicole Smith’s kid?  She had her puss out in front of the cameras, and she was wining and dining herself and enjoying the Bahamian island life at the same time.  Color Larry shocked when she laid the boom on him by charging him a couple of hundred thousand bucks for the privilege of her services!

Needless to say Birkhead and Opri parted company on bad terms… so when sensational claims were made in the new book by gravel voiced Rita Cosby, Larry attributed some of them to Opri.  Now comes a suit (in addition to the one for her OUTRAGEOUS fees), that claims that this pig Opri’s career has suffered and that she has damages in the range of $200,000.  Some of that $200,000.00 had to be spent on paying a firm to provide damage control and rehabilitation to Opri’s supposed lagging career after Birkhead’s remarks.

I wonder how much damage can be attributed to Birkhead when he’s made a name for this cow.  I’m no fan of Birkhead, Anna Nicole Smith, or any of the other people this woman has represented, but the jig is up.  People know that she charges outrageous fees and that she seems to make herself the center of a case, often taking to the air and commenting on them.  It’s obscene and dare I say, likely unethical.  From Michael Jackson to James Brown to Larry Birkhead and David Hasselhoff’s ex-wife Pamela Bach it’s been a who’s who of freaks and hasbeens for this woman.  Did I mention that even after the drunken burger incident Opri lost the Bach vs. Hasselhoff case?  I’m sure that didn’t help her star studded career either.

Don’t take my word for it… go to this woman’s website and see how she showcases her various talk show spots.  Maybe Debra Opri should concentrate more on being an attorney and less on being a pseudo celebrity if she wants to truly heal her “damaged” career.

At any rate, all of these people deserve one another.  Oh the drama.

Can somebody tell me what the hell this is?  For some reason I have this number in my head.  It’s like some weird recurring theme.  I have no idea where it’s come from.  It feels like a date; when I see it in my mind’s eye that’s the way it looks.  It becomes a weird mantra 0503,0503,0503.  Will I die on that date?  Will I win the lottery?  Will it be next year or twenty years from now?  Is it even a date at all?

0503… what the hell is happening to me?
