Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs went out before the press and tried to clarify what it was that the president meant when he stated that the police had acted stupidly in arresting Professor Henry Gates. Too bad he dug the hole deeper in my mind. Robert Gibbs told reporters that Obama felt that when it was clear that Harvard scholar Louis Gates Jr. was not a burglary suspect last week, “at that point, cooler heads on all sides should have prevailed.”
Cooler heads should have prevailed? What does that mean? The officer(s) are hotheaded? Could Professor Gates have acted better, or does he get a pass? After all, he is the guy that was (according to all witnesses) yelling “racist” about the arresting/responding officer.
Obama had said that the Cambridge, Mass., police “acted stupidly” by citing Gates on a resisting arrest charge, which was quickly dropped. He had not faulted the actions of Gates, who he said is a friend. Of course he didn’t find fault in the actions of his friend. Obama is a disciple of Jeremiah Wright and the police are ALL corrupt racists according to that maniac’s teachings.
“Let me be clear, he was not calling the officer stupid,” Gibbs told reporters as Obama landed in Cleveland for two health care events Thursday. He said Obama felt that “at a certain point the situation got far out of hand” at Gates’ home last week. Wow, really Robert? The situation got out of hand? When did it get out of hand? Was it when the neighbor called the cops? Was it when the officer responded? Was it when the officer dared to ask a black man for ID in his own home? When exactly did the whole thing fall apart? Who was it that became immediately riled according to witnesses?
I am very angry that this president would comment on an incident without having a firm grasp on the facts. Worse though, this president would continue to try to scramble and to make excuses for his poor form. I don’t care what generalities this president and his lackeys deem as relevant. The president was asked about a SPECIFIC incident and instead of seeking to educate himself on the matter he decides to shoot from the hip. Well then Mr. Obama, live with the consequences of speaking from a place of admitted STUPIDITY and casting an entire department in a poor light without even KNOWING THE FACTS. What an arrogant, selfrighteous fool this president has turned out to be. Bush was an idiot? Yeah. Obama is a genius? Not even close.

Finally, somebody is saying what realists have been thinking. Barack Obama is so consumed with his agenda that he is spending us into oblivion. Kevin Hassett at Bloomberg.com makes comparisons between California and the federal budget that makes things perfectly clear.
The California morass has Democrats in Washington trembling. The reason is simple. If Obama’s health-care plan passes, then we may well end up paying for it with federal slips of paper worth less than California’s. Obama has bet everything on passing health care this year. The publicity surrounding the California debt fiasco almost assures his resounding defeat.
I know that people keep saying that Democrats will be running for the hills when it comes to this health care initiative of Obama’s but I would still like for those concerned to get more vocal about it. I am not convinced yet that this is DOA.
California has engaged in an orgy of spending, but, compared with our federal government, its legislators should feel chaste. The California deficit this year is now north of $26 billion. The U.S. federal defecit will be, according to the latest numbers, almost 70 times larger.
Bleak Picture
The federal picture is so bleak because the Obama administration is the most fiscally irresponsible in the history of the U.S. I would imagine that he would be the intergalactic champion as well, if we could gather the data on deficits on other worlds. Obama has taken George W. Bush’s inattention to defecits and elevated it to an art form.
HALLELUJAH! PREACH IT BROTHER!
With the price tag of Obama-care likely to exceed $1 trillion, moderate Democrats face a simple choice. They can jump off the cliff with the president, or they can stay true to the principles that they have espoused throughout their careers.
There are reassuring signs that principle is winning. One of the most expensive components of the Obama plan is the so- called public-insurance option, which opponents fear would result in massive government subsidies. Senator Mary Landrieu said that she is “not open” to a public option that will compete with private insurance.
One trillion? If that’s the Democrats’ estimate, I would venture that the real cost will be more than twice that. Nobody with any grasp on the situation that this country is staring down could support this health care initiative. Health care needs to be regulated. Insurance companies need to deliver what they promise and they need to do it in concert with a medical community that is accountable for corruption… just as insurers need to be held accountable for theirs. Hassett is optimistic that the stupidity that is Obama’s health care folly will be struck down. I am hopeful, but it seems to me that Hassett puts a lot of faith in the American people having a clue. I don’t know that people hear anything beyond FREE and Obama and the rest of the Democrats have made a good run at getting people to believe that they’re offering them something for nothing.

What is it with Maureen Dowd? What makes this woman so bitter and angry? Her piece on Sarah Palin’s resignation can only be described as hateful. The venom and the disdain must have dripped from her forked tongue and drenched her keyboard in an ooze of bile that burned the lettering from the keys. I’m not a big Palin fan. I’ve thought for some time that she’s pretty much done herself in where it concerns her aspirations for higher office, which just makes Dowd’s assault all the more distressing. If Palin is truly done, I have to wonder; why the need to be so brutal?
Maybe the red haired harlot of liberal editorial is still smarting from having her broom shoved squarely up her derrière after being declared a plagiarist? Is that perhaps what has Dowd so rabid? Is she adopting the tone of the blogosphere instead of simply ripping off its content? Surely the vapid rantings of this woman (exquisite use of vocabulary set aside) are more suited to the likes of the Democratic Underground than they are the pages of The New York Times. After all, the New York Times is supposedly the chronicle for the civilized world. Sadly, Dowd’s hit piece showed little in the way of civility.
What is clear is that Palin has likely had enough. Dowd and other liberals want to speculate as to why. Could it be a scandal? With no apparent proof of that, they’ve had to go the “crazy” route. After all, you’d have to be nuts to have had enough of the media and their incessant attacks on your family. Who wouldn’t love to have the media painting them as an imbecilic inbred from a backwoods state? Wouldn’t we all love to see the media and late night talkers savaging our kids? Which is likely what Maureen Dowd’s ire boils down to. HOW DARE SARAH PALIN SAY, ENOUGH, TO THIS MEDIA. HOW DARE SARAH PALIN TAKE CONTROL OF HER OWN DESTINY. HOW DARE SARAH PALIN END THIS MEDIA WITCH HUNT ON HER TERMS. When it’s all said and done, that explains the nastiness of Dowd’s attack. She is absolutely galled by the fact that Sarah Palin has had the nerve to simply walk away.
The press made you Sarah! You can’t just walk away! Dowd’s piece speaks for the whole of the leftist media. Dowd just beat the mass to the mark given this long weekend… but fear not, MSNBC’s lineup of hack talkers will be following up this savagery with their own vitriolic rantings. Sarah Palin has dared to defy the media. She has dared to set the terms. Will she be granted any peace? I doubt it, but the media will have a much harder time painting their attacks as relevant. Dowd as the media’s proxy is just the first of the mainstream to fathom the facts and to understand that their lives are all less relevant without the right’s poster girl to kick around.
So, what next? I would suggest that Maureen Dowd and the rest of the liberals in the media take a hard look at the state of the nation, rather than the state of the Republican Party. They got what they wanted. Those that proclaim themselves in line with their “evolved” thinking are running this country and our demise seems to have been hastened rather than stopped. Mayhaps Maureen Dowd and her ilk would be better served questioning the policies of those truly in power, rather than those that are not. Sarah Palin is a losing Vice Presidential Candidate and still she sends the leftist media into fits. Meanwhile, the neophyte that actually won the presidency is given a pass where it concerns the economy, our world standing and the nation’s general welfare. Sarah Palin is nuts? Hardly. It’s the whole of the Fourth Estate that is stark raving mad. Maureen Dowd isn’t fit to pontificate on “Brangelina” or even the elusive tabloid staple “Bat Boy”, much less politics. Ms. Dowd, honestly, you should be ashamed of yourself.

NBC and its cable sibling MSNBC are a joke. A sick and perverted joke. These two news outlets are the official networks of the Obama Administration. These two news outlets are nothing more than leftist propaganda peddlers for the left. From Chris Matthews to Keith Olbermann to Ed “Shooter” Schultz the radio blowhard and alleged killer of his own hunting dog, the network is nothing but a 24 hour communications arm for the Democratic Party. If Matthews isn’t talking about the tingle up his leg after hearing Obama speak, Olbermann is mumbling insults over Conservative guests. It’s morning noon and night, Obamavision. Now NBC’s Brian Williams is added to the list of fawning Obamaniacs at NBC. What else would one call the Nightly News infomercial “Inside the Obama Whitehouse” that has been aired over the past two days? It is obvious that Williams reveres Obama, so much so that he actually does bow as he ends the interview. I know, some of you are going to say that wasn’t a bow… but what it was, was subservience. It appeared to me that Williams was addressing some kind of a monarch. I guess when Obama turned and left, Williams was able to turn and exit without having to walk backwards as not to show his back to the messiah?
Shameful but moreso than that, unbefitting of a legitimate news outlet. I guess GE knows where its bread is buttered and as a division, NBC needs to fall in line too… why else be the “liberal” network?

Barack Obama is set to unveil his economic team on Monday. At the forefront and heading up the Treasury will be New York Fed president Timothy Geithner. To hear people speak about this guy, is to hear nothing but high praise. Is he the panacea that the economy and our Florida mortgage applicants, so desperately need? Wall Street hunting up any straw on which to hang, seemed to react positively to the news of Geithner’s impending appointment as Treasury Secretary. The market closed up 494 points Friday afternoon supposedly on the news. Will it last? The market seems to have a short memory when it comes to good news. If recent history is any kind of indication, the market will fall back to reality quickly, focusing in on the more pertinent indicators and the glow of Geithner will be a fast passing fad.
Still, the man has an extensive history within government, heading up the New York Fed as well as playing a key role along with Bernanke and Paulson in trying to contain the economic mess. At the very least he will come to the table knowing exactly what’s been going on. Considering he’ll be inheriting Secretary Paulson’s stewardship of $700 billion in bailout funds, it seems fortuitous that he has been so closely involved in the process to date. As president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Geithner is keenly aware of what it is that is occuring on Wall Street and his appointment would signal a very real desire to address the concerns of the market.
One thing is clear, if there is one sector of the country that truly requires “change” it is the economic sector. At the same time, hopefully Geithner will be able to impart to the President elect, the need to reconsider implementing tax hikes in the near future. Wall Street cannot be pleased with the notion that a President Obama would enact tax increases while the country stumbles through this economic bog.
Is Timothy Geithner the answer to the nation’s economic woes? We can only hope so.

For the last 21 months Barack Obama has waged the most cynical and calculated campaign for the presidency of the United States, ever. For the last 21 months he has told the people of this country that he is the way. It is he, Barack Obama, that would deliver to them that which they so desperately need. Only this electorate could bear witness to the most bold and masterful power grab in the history of American politics on one day, and show up with their begging bowls on the next. This is the state of the country, and this is the state of the Obama voter. Now the message will suddenly have to change. Mr. Obama will have to say, “You can do it,” rather than, “I can do it.” He will have to motivate people that he has spent the last 21 months trying to placate. People that were OWED something for nothing just yesterday, will soon be hearing what they MUST DO to get it, and it won’t be as simple as casting a vote. Reality will have to set in.
For all of the rhetoric of the last 21 months, Barack Obama has somehow maintained that change was the providence of his divinity. As President of the United States he will soon be preaching that change is, (as anybody with a lick of sense would know), the providence of the individual. For all of the socialist banter, and for all of the “Yes we can!”, what it boils down to for each and every one of us is, “Yes I can.” Barack Obama did not get to the presidency waiting for somebody to hand it to him. The fact that such a feat is lost on his supporters is tantamount to failure and the man has yet to serve a day as President.
This is the sad state of the electorate that put Barack Obama into office and this is the sad state of our nation as a whole. I can hardly wait for all of the, “roll up your shirt sleeves and get to work” nonsense that will soon be forthcoming. I thought we’d all worked hard enough and it was time for us to get something back. You mean, we’re still going to have to work for it? I thought we were just going to stick it to the rich dudes?!
Oh my God, I think we’ve been bamboozled! I think we’ve been hoodwinked! I think Barack Obama’s ideas of hope and change are going to fast sound pretty familiar to us all. It isn’t about epiphanies in voting booths. It isn’t about electing one man. It’s about getting off your butt and working hard. Wow, profound… and all at the same time, lost… on those that voted Obama.

I expect that at about 8PM tonight, given that Barack Obama is victorious, liberals will immediately cease their ranting about what a lousy country America is. Isn’t that just a wee bit disingenuous? What does that say about liberalism? Will Obama stop the Iraq war overnight or even in the next year? No. Will the “war” as libs have been calling it, suddenly become a “peace keeping” mission? Probably. Suddenly the prism through which liberals view this country will skew the issues in a way that will be 180 degrees different from this morning. Honestly, these are the kinds of unprincipled people that will be running this country should Obama win. Doesn’t that make you feel great?
Will Conservatives commence with America bashing? I doubt it. I think the attacks will be focused in on the warped ideas of these liberals, not on painting this country as the scum of the earth. I must admit, it will be nice to have these liberals silenced for a while. Me on the other hand. I am going to take every opportunity available to say, “I told you so,” if this guy is actually elected.

These are the kinds of sycophantic mouthbreathers that are voting for Obama. It’s crazy, these people really believe this kind of stuff. The latest nonsense coming out of the Obama camp is that people need to “temper expectations”. BUAHAHAHAH! Now they tell you! Unreal. The media is already circling the wagons around Obama. All I’ve heard all morning on “Today” is speculation about people needing to understand that their expectations might be out of line with reality. I WONDER WHO THE HELL WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT?! Anyway, have a good laugh at this video. We don’t have to worry about how we’re going to pay for gas or for the mortgage… Obama apparently has that covered!

Well, it may be all for naught, but I voted today. I was in line at 6:45 with the wife and the girl (voting for the first time ever… proud moment). There were probably 100 people in line at that time, which showed that maybe it isn’t just cities that are eager to cast a ballot. In addition to the presidential contest, we voted for several state amendments and propositions. Why must they always try to “fool” people by wording ballot items like that in such a nebulous way? It’s really dishonest.
It seems we’ll likely know around 7PM this evening who it is that will be our next president. I know, the media has been telling you this is over for weeks now, but this time it’s for real. Either way it goes, this country is facing down some very hard times. Which of these men is more qualified to deal with these issues? I think I’ve made my personal preference clear. This country has been controlled by the Democrats at various times in its history. Was it any better then, than it was when the Republicans held the reins? No. So, it seems logical to want checks and balances. McCain is the only way to achieve that, especially given the state of the Congress and its likely turn to the left. Unfortunately, we seem doomed to repeat history time and time again. In our zeal to make Bush pay, we are forgetting to impart reason in our decision making. I did not abandon rational thought in a quest for revenge. America is a center/right country where it concerns its values and its politics. How do we respect that by voting in a guy that is way to the left? I just don’t get it. Barack Obama is not ready to be the President. Hillary knew it, Biden knew it and I know it. We’ll just have to see how wrong for America he turns out to be if he should win. I hope it’s not a terrible price to pay. Any time you abandon your principles in order to dish out some payback, it’s likely a bad idea. But hey, what do I know?

I’ve heard Obama running around, screaming about how attacks on his plan to “spread the wealth” are in essence an endorsement of selfishness. What a disingenuous thing for this “gentleman” to say. It’s got nothing to do with selfishness or selflessness. This is about government TAKING from people. Will they then pass that money on in a responsible manner? THE GOVERNMENT SPENDING MONEY RESPONSIBLY? Uh huh. I suppose we’ll just have to believe that government will use the money in a way that best serves our fellow man. Meanwhile, as businesses see their profits taxed, who is going to actually pay the price? Will it be these corporations? HELL NO. The consumer will see these taxes passed onto them through increased prices… or these corporations will trim the fat (jobs) to maintain their profit margin. Is the middle class really so ignorant that they believe that the wealthy are going to be the only people to be screwed under an Obama presidency? You have got to be kidding me. We’ll all be paying for Obama’s massive programs. That free insurance you’re looking for, that will be paid for through higher taxes. Oh but we’ll save that $10 billion a month when Obama withdraws the troops from Iraq. NONSENSE. Obama isn’t withdrawing our troops from Iraq on day one. Hell, at this point he has no idea when we’d see troops withdrawn. Everything is a rhetorical pipe dream of platitudes and feel good ramblings.
Obama made a comment that he had no idea that giving half of his sandwich to a kid in grade school was a bad thing to do. He thought it was a nice thing to do. He was making light of his socialistic tendencies. What Mr. Obama failed to understand was that if his teacher had said, “You’re going to give away half of your sandwich because I said so,” the story is no longer so cute and cuddly. That’s apples to apples. I guess the concept would fail to compute, I mean after all, paying higher taxes is akin to PATRIOTISM according to his running mate.
The funniest thing about all of this? Despite Obama’s desire to spread the wealth, he has done a miserable job of it in his personal life. He’s a cheapskate when it comes to charity. He’s got family members living in slums in Boston and in Kenya. I mean is this guy for real? Physician (or should I say Messiah) heal thyself!
Increasing taxes in this environment is going to put the squeeze on the middle class. Even if he doesn’t touch your payroll taxes (if you believe he’ll keep his hands off your modest wages, you’re going to be sorely mistaken), his windfall profits taxes and attacks on small businesses are going to be felt across the board. Taking capital gains taxes into account, the trend has always been that as tax rates are decreased, tax revenues INCREASED. Policy cannot be about SCREWING a subset of the population because they are successful. There has to be a very careful application of taxation. Obama thus far seems reckless.
I think that if you go out to eat, you should ask your waiter or waitress if they support Barack Obama. If they do, withhold your tip. When they ask why you didn’t add a tip, tell them that you’re going to give their tip to the next homeless guy you see on the street. It’s time for people to put their money where their mouth is. If this isn’t about getting something for nothing, then there should be no beef with you doing something like that.
Welfare is a form of spreading the wealth. It’s an entitlement that Dems have supported for decades. Does it serve to better the people that are on it? Hell no. It traps them in poverty. Is that a good thing? That depends. If you’re a liberal running for office and you need a vote, I suppose it’s a good thing. However, if you’re the poor bastard that’s trapped in that system, it’s not.
The class system in America works because anybody can aspire to be wealthy and to better themselves. Barack Obama’s seeming loathing of capitalism is dangerous. Do we want to be like Russia, China or even Western Europe? Good grief, I hope not!
Barack Obama is approaching taxation and the economy in a way that is extremely naive and it is going to be harmful to this country. One need only look to states like Michigan where taxes were increased during an economic downturn to see the disasterous results. If Barack Obama is who you support for President of the United States, you better understand that we’ll ALL be paying in one way or another. Barack Obama might make Jimmy Carter look like a damn good President by the time this is all said and done. For all of his myriad of faults the worst thing George Bush has ever done to this country is to make Barack Obama a viable candidate. This is madness.
