As if Michael Jackson’s life wasn’t enough of a spectacle. Now we have this alleged pedophile’s rented womb out there going butch on the media. Why does Rowe have a beef? She’s acting as if she’s some kind of a responsible person due some decency in her treatment. I suppose she’s owed some respect. She’s mourning after all, I mean, the cash cow is dead and now she’s going to have to fight for these brats if she’s ever going to see another payday. Poor, poor Debbie. You sold your kids honey, don’t touch you? What, is it hands off of the merchandise? There will be no accidental touching of the “Rowe” unless you’re ponying up the cash to use her as an incubator? So sickening. Here’s a bit of Debbie Rowe, jawing (literally) at the media.
“ARE YOU READY TO GET YOUR BUTT KICKED!” Wow, how bold. I’m sure this ox of a woman will be a heck of a disciplinarian!

NOOOOOO! Say it ain’t so. Who will cure me of my insomnia? Who will get greasy stains from fast food out of my oxford shirts?! Fate is cruel… or was it simply that God required the services of the world’s number one pitch man? Sadly, I am left to ponder such questions as press sources have confirmed that Billy Mays is dead.
Even as infomercials he hosted aired on local stations across the country this morning, the cable news channels were reporting on the death of pitchman Billy Mays.
50-year-old Mays was found unresponsive by his wife in his Tampa home this morning. Mays was on board a US Airways flight yesterday that made an emergency landing in Tampa after its front tires blew out. It is unsure whether Mays’ death was related to the incident.
While this might indeed be a natural death and there is little to suggest otherwise, I would still like law enforcement to check out the ShamWow guy. Where was he at the time of May’s death… and can he prove it? Dude seems a little squirrely to me.

Well, give the little weasel and his team some credit… Phil Spector managed to widdle quite a few years of freedom out of the system even after killing a woman in cold blood.

Today the weird one was finally sentenced and sent away. Nineteen years is basically a death sentence for a man of 69, and frankly that’s what he deserves. I’m sure the fellas in prison are going to love the assortment of wigs.

I’ve never been a fan of Jay Leno. Let’s just get that out in the open. I think the record shows quite accurately that Jay got the “Tonight Show” gig by screwing over a good friend (David Letterman). I don’t have much respect for people that go to such lengths. Leno likes to blame it all on his deceased manager Helen Kushnick but the fact is, Jay had to know what she was up to and the game she was playing in his name. What did Helen get for her efforts? She got fired and thrown under the bus. Jay made it like every lousy thing ever done in his name was something Helen did unilaterally. Uh huh.
Jay isn’t the most original guy in the world either, Howard Stern has maintained that Leno stole the “Jaywalking” segment from him. Let’s just say, I think Stern has a legitimate beef. Leno even went so far as to hire Stuttering John Melendez from Stern’s show, once again going through the back door rather than being upfront and discussing it with Stern.
Now we have NBC going through this whole charade of saying goodbye to Jay… but the guy isn’t really going anywhere. In another shrewd move Leno has managed to wrestle an hour of primetime each night from the network. How did he do it? He did it by acting like he was interested in offers from other networks, namely ABC. Jay Leno is not a nice guy. I seriously hope that his prime time show goes down in flames and that he trashes his already flimsy legacy by making this move. Instead of being classy and handing over the reins in the manner of Carson, Jay has just gone and made it all about him again.
I never watched Jay at 11:30PM and I sure as heck can guarantee I won’t be watching him at 10:00PM either. What NBC has done, is to basically insured that I won’t be watching an hour of their primetime lineup for the forseeable future. I will however, give Conan a chance as the new host of the “Tonight Show”. Conan is a funny and genuinely likeable guy… and I wish him much luck in his new gig. I’m sure he’s just as baffled by Leno’s latest antics, he just can’t say anything about it… yet. Sorry folks, I’m just not buying that Jay is just this kindly funny man. If anything, I think that’s the image he likes to cultivate while stomping on people and getting what he wants.

Showtime has announced that John Lithgow will be joining the cast of “Dexter” in Season 4, portraying a character named Walter Simmons. It seems that Walter Simmons is a serial killer that has managed to evade the FBI for some time and who is called the “Trinity Killer” because he kills in threes. I happen to think Lithgow is at his best when he’s playing either evil or nuts, so hopefully we’ll get a bit of both out of him this season as he matches wits with anti-hero Dex. Season 4 which will be 12 episodes long begins on September 27th.
Check out showtime.com for more Dexter info or to see what others are saying about the latest announcement.

Set your fanboy to kill… here is JJ Abrams version of the beloved USS Enterprise NCC-1701!

Now, I have already seen a bunch of whining and gnashing of teeth, but some people just need to get over it. This is like BSG, a re-imagined (althought much more closely than Galactica) version of the original series. I loved the original, and still watch it, but come on… did you people expect things to be as they were?

The bridge… with Kirk, Spock, Sulu, and McCoy… “I like it a lot.”
I am finally starting to have hope for the franchise!

So, every now and then, I try to educate you lot of rabble by pointing out a musical artist worthy of your time. For a lot of years, Peter Gabriel was at the top of my list as far as solo performers went. He really does have a vision and a voice that is not just unique but universally distinct. It is a combination I never tire of. Pop in one of this guy’s CDs and it’s an instant shot of adrenaline and self reflection that’s a hit every time. Here are a couple of live videos for your viewing/listening pleasure.
“Signal to Noise”
See, this guy still rocks at 58… even if it does take until around 2:40 for him to kick in. What a great tune.
“Man, I’m losing sound and sight
Of all those who can tell me wrong from right
When all things beautiful and bright
Sink in the night
Yet there’s still something in my heart
That can find the way
To make a start
To turn up the signal
Wipe out the noise”
“Secret World”
Ah, the “Secret World”, a place you knew had to exist when you were young… but then time and reality set in on you and all of the magic evaporated. How sad… no really… it’s sad. A dollar and a day to be so blissfully naive and optimistic as I once was… ahhhh F YOU TOO.

Finally, MSNBC has succumbed to the pressure, or perhaps managed to catch up with the rest of us that have realized for a long time that Matthews and Olbermann are partisan hacks. I would no sooner see Pat Buchanan hosting “coverage” of political events than I would these two guys.
The move, confirmed by spokesmen for both networks, follows increasingly loud complaints about Olbermann’s anchor role at the Democratic and Republican conventions. Olbermann, who regularly assails President Bush and GOP nominee John McCain on his “Countdown” program, was effusive in praising the acceptance speech of Democratic nominee Barack Obama. He drew flak Thursday when the Republicans played a video that included a tribute to the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks, saying that if the networks had done that, “we would be rightly eviscerated at all quarters, perhaps by the Republican Party itself, for exploiting the memories of the dead, and perhaps even for trying to evoke that pain again. If you reacted to that videotape the way I did, I apologize.”
Matthews, who has criticized politicians in both parties, drew less criticism for his convention role but became a divisive figure during the primaries when he described how he was inspired by Obama’s speeches and made disparaging remarks about Hillary Clinton, for which he later apologized.
These two guys are pundits for the left and it was about time that somebody did something about the way they’d run amok at MSNBC. It’s been disgusting display after disgusting display with Olbermann. On the other hand Matthews’ treatment of Hillary Clinton during the primaries was both brutal and blatantly biased.
Olbermann and Matthews will remain as analysts during major political events, and officials at both networks, who declined to be identified discussing personnel moves, said Olbermann had initiated the discussions to clarify his role. They said Olbermann’s influence at MSNBC would in no way be diminished and that the shift would enable him and Matthews to offer more candid analysis during live coverage. Olbermann confirmed yesterday he had initiated the discussions.
See, this is how these people think. Okay, let’s take them out of the anchor chairs and set them loose without any kind of leash. That’s fine, at least they won’t be pretending to be impartial JOURNALISTS, which they aren’t… they’re left wing carnival barkers. Now if they could just do something about that punk Shuster.

This poor blogger. Imagine, getting locked up for streaming songs from “Chinese Democracy”, the yet to be released CD from Guns N’ Roses that has been ten years in the making! What the hell was this guy thinking? Guns N’ Roses were a pack of posers 20 years ago, you’d think that these old bastards would be happy for the free promotion!
A blogger suspected of streaming songs from the unreleased Guns N’ Roses album “Chinese Democracy” on his Web site was arrested Wednesday and appeared in court, where his bail was set at $10,000.
Sure copyrights should be protected. Sure this guy screwed up. I still contend it started with poor band selection. “Welcome to the early bird, we eat mac n’ cheese here every day,” I mean seriously… are people out there really waiting for this album to be released? Are people really interested in enduring the antics of Axl Rose, yet again? Everybody knows that Axl Rose is the biggest whiner in all of music. Would anybody go to a show to see this guy? Does anybody really think that this old man can still hit the notes? Color me uninterested… which leads me to my reason for posting this blurb in the first place, “WHO CARES?”
The story mentions that this blogger could have done significant financial harm to Guns n’ Roses. Uh huh. Somebody better tell Grandpa Axl and the rest of that retirement village lounge act that this is 2008. As soon as that album hits the stores, it hits the internets… and then all of the little pirates will go to town anyway… and they won’t be listening to poor quality streamed versions off of this poor bastard’s site either. Nope, those crusty old farts are going to have to tour (which is how bands seem to make their money these days) and we all know how stable a Guns N’ Roses tour is, don’t we? Scratchy Rose will sound like a moose in heat inside of three songs and then what?
OK, come to think of it… these guys need every penny off of this album that they can get. SHAME ON YOU MR. BLOGGER, taking money from the elderly!
P.S. Axl, please leave your headana at home… everybody knows that Brett Michaels owns that look now. You’ll just have to figure out another way to keep your hair on.

Sunshine is a scifi flick that centers around an expedition (Icarus II) which is sent to our dying sun to restart it. This is the second attempt that’s being made the first Icarus having disappeared. The movie is beautifully shot and the cast is first rate. The idea that mankind faced with extinction would be so bold as to embark on such a grandiose mission is at the heart of the story. The sun and the enormity of it as compared to the frailty and smallness of human beings is overwhelming to some of the crew and there is a fair attempt made to explore character issues surrounding that. I think the movie would have been better had they maintained that focus but they add an adventure element to the last third of the movie that is a little disappointing. Still, the film is amazing from a visual standpoint and the deeper meanings explored offer food for thought. It’s an engaging ride… and if you can put yourself into the shoes of the characters for even just a portion of the story it becomes all the more powerful. It’s unfortunate that this movie bombed at the box office, it deserved better than it got and should not have been released as a summer blockbuster. It’s not that kind of a film. If you haven’t seen this movie give it a go and rent it. If you have Bluray all the better, I bet it looks awesome on the format. Here is the main “theme” with clips from ‘Sunshine’:
‘The Fountain’ explores some of the themes that are contained in ‘Sunshine’ and is also shot beautifully. The movie is very deep and a lot of people do not get its meaning. At the center of it all is the story of a couple that are in love but the wife is dying. The husband is a scientist that is looking for a cure to her illness and a way to overcome death in general. There are three distinct story lines interwoven throughout the film. If you don’t understand from the start that this movie is an exploration into love vs. death you won’t “get it”. The three story lines (at least for me) deal with the ways that humanity has sought to overcome mortality. The conquistador deals with the mystical and religious elements, the modern day Tommy deals with the scientific and medical ways we’ve tried to overcome death and then we go to the future where enlightenment and acceptance open the doors to the true meaning of life and death, and how love is central to both. Unfortunately, we as a species are only to the point in our evolution where we look to science for the answers. The movie offers us the hope that we’ll someday come to a point where we understand and accept the natural order of things. This isn’t a popcorn flick. If you’re not ready to think then do yourself a favor and avoid this movie like the plague. If you can embrace the existential then this is a must see. The imagery throughout is stunning and I cannot wait until we have our projector so I can watch this sucker on a big screen. The visuals are just stunning. Jackman and Weisz are both excellent in their roles. You can catch this thing on HBO every couple of months and it’s worth a look.
Both of these movies are of the love em or hate em variety. I happen to love em.
