Giants vs. Patriots… I’m stoked.

While I would have loved to have seen New England beaten today, there is something very epic about the Giants standing in the way of the Pats and Belichick.  I don’t know that the Giants will have the stuff to stop Brady and his arsenal, but it sure would be a hell of a thing if they pulled off an upset.  It’s the kind of thing that would automatically become legend and add to the NFL’s lore.

Tonight’s game against the Packers was the kind of thing that tests a team’s mettle.  Missing field goals one after another and the coughing up of the ball TWICE by R W McFumbles are a couple of examples.  When you live to win after things like that, you become cool as ice.  I don’t think that Eli and the Giants will go into the Superbowl feeling intimidated.  They belong there every bit as much as the Pats do.  Watching the Packers, there is no way that they could have beaten the Patriots, NONE.  The game will be a lot more interesting with the Giants.

A couple of observations.  First, Joe Buck is a douche.  When he tried to press the issue of ball control on Smith’s reception by saying the ball “was moving”, I wanted to reach into the television and strangle his pencil neck.  It was about the spot Joe, listen to Troy next time… he was trying to help you out.  Next, Al Harris is a bitch.  I’m sorry, you talk smack, get in the face of Burress, proceed to get OWNED and then cop out with CRAMPS?  Heavy flow day Al?  Lastly, if Favre retires he leaves the NFL as one of the classiest guys to ever play the game.  The Packers had a good season and there would be no shame in him saying, “I’m done.”

Congrats to the Giant fans out there (you know who you are).  I’m just really happy to see a New York team in there and I can hardly wait for the big game!  Go BIG BLUE!
