I watched the ‘Today Show’ this morning. On it they showed the airport surveillance tape of Carol Gotbaum being escorted from the concourse by two officers. She is obviously raising a ruckus as you can see people pretty far away from her turning to see what the commotion is behind them. One woman with a baggage trolly seems to jump back in fear. As the video continues you can see Gotbaum locking her knees and trying to keep the officers from being able to walk her off. They appear to be lifting her under her arms at times, carrying her. Could these bruises that the private investigator mentioned be caused by the officers having to firmly grip her in order to move her along, absolutely. People that RESIST ARREST get hurt every day. If you get arrested and resist… (let me use the family’s buzz word here) YOU GET MANHANDLED.
The attorney for the Gotbaums commented that this was a sick citizen that needed help and they should have called an ambulance. Really? We should call an ambulance when somebody is screaming, “I am not a terrorist!” while hurling profanities? An eyewitness said that she threw her cellphone as well. Seems to me that the police to this point have done exactly what they should have done. The airport has to continue business and this disturbance with the inclusion of screams about “terrorists” was impeding that. If she was such a  ”sick citizen” why the hell wasn’t somebody from the family with her to make sure that she was alright? Leaving an alcoholic alone on a flight from New York to Phoenix wasn’t a cause for concern? Maybe the airline should be suing the family for willfully and negligently tossing their problem off on the poor staff and the traveling public.Â
Here’s what I now want to know. I want to see toxicology and I want somebody, anybody that’s got a clue as to JOURNALISM 101 to find the cabin crew from New York to Phoenix so that they can be asked about her behavior on that flight. Did she drink on that flight? If so, how much? I mean aren’t these legitimate questions? Doesn’t it seem obvious to ask? I heard from the Gotbaum’s attorney that Carol was stone cold sober from New York to Phoenix but I haven’t seen any statements from the airline, if I missed them somebody reply with a link. I’m not inclined to believe much of anything from this attorney when he says that a knee to Gotbaum’s back had her unconscious… she’s VISIBLY struggling in the surveillance tape.
