Project Checkmate is back up and running, plotting strategy for strikes on Iran. Bush will not leave office with Ahmadinejad still having an ability to make a bomb. His buddies at the Project for the New American Century, won’t stand for it. A nuclear Iran isn’t just a threat to Israel, it’s a threat to our ability to maintain control of the situation in that tinder box that is the middle east.
Frankly, I’ve had enough of Ahmadinejad and all the rest who are jumping on Iraq as a means to diminish our ability to do what we must. Iraq was supreme folly and ill conceived, of this there is no doubt. It was the wrong war at the wrong time and it was engaged in for selfish reasons. How was Bush to know that he would have the chance to engage in a totally NECESSARY and ethically sound war against Iran during his term? *shrugs*
So much of ourselves wasted on this USELESS war in Iraq. How much do we still have to give to face the problem that is Iran? Air strikes, cruise missile attacks, what happens when they start pouring over the borders with Iran and Afghanistan?Â
Diplomacy seems like it will never have its day. Neither side is particularly interested in meeting half way. Both sides are resolute in their all or nothing postures. Gear up kiddies, we’ll likely attack Iran in the next six months.
THE United States Air Force has set up a highly confidential strategic planning group tasked with “fighting the next war†as tensions rise with Iran.
Project Checkmate, a successor to the group that planned the 1991 Gulf War’s air campaign, was quietly reestablished at the Pentagon in June.
It reports directly to General Michael Moseley, the US Air Force chief, and consists of 20-30 top air force officers and defence and cyberspace experts with ready access to the White House, the CIA and other intelligence agencies.
Detailed contingency planning for a possible attack on Iran has been carried out for more than two years by Centcom (US central command), according to defence sources.
Can somebody tell me what the hell this is? For some reason I have this number in my head. It’s like some weird recurring theme. I have no idea where it’s come from. It feels like a date; when I see it in my mind’s eye that’s the way it looks. It becomes a weird mantra 0503,0503,0503. Will I die on that date? Will I win the lottery? Will it be next year or twenty years from now? Is it even a date at all?
