Welp, news of the death of “The Scooter” bums me out mightily. I guess it’s just the laying to rest of yet another stable of childhood. The guy was a “homer” and may have stated the obvious over and over again, but he was our homer. Sitting around eating icecream, or graham crackers and milk and watching a Yankee game at my grandparents’ house is an enduring memory of youth. The banter between Rizzuto and Bill White was always a major part of viewing those games back in the 70s and 80s. The two of them were entertaining. I know a lot of people would get pissed off when Phil would spout off a “Holy Cow!” only to watch the ball caught deep, but hey… it was also hilarious.
God speed, Phil… you’ll always be fondly remembered by this SOB.

As a Mets fan, I will miss this guy too……even though his best days were spent at the Money Store. LOL!

DUUUUUDE! You just brought back a whole slew of other memories. Long summers, out of school… watching Munster re-runs and them playing these commercials at every break. Hoofah.
